We’ve seen many of our wood countertops get placed over islands that have faux fieldstone, quarried stone, or brick sides. It’s a splendid flip-flop of design. We’re happy to collaborate with you to select the right woods and right finish to work into your kitchen design.
While wood and water are not the best of friends, people have been working the problem for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Wood can work just fine in the kitchen with a little foresight. We frequently use a product called Rubio Monocoat which is a mix of boiled linseed oil, catalytic driers, and waxes. It stands up well against common spills including coffee, wine, vinegar, etc… If damage does occur, it is very easy to repair. For more on this topic, read more in the wood countertop finishes section.
