A family-run shop since 2004, Antique Woodworks handcrafts fireplace mantels, reclaimed wood tables, and countertops from salvaged timber. Kevin and Mari — alongside their kids over the years — have built a business rooted in honest craftsmanship, deep customer relationships, and a genuine love for giving old wood a beautiful second life.
We Love What We Do!
We are a small mom-and-pop shop that works hands-on to craft all of these tables, mantels, and countertops. We feel so very fortunate to reclaim old wood from the fading American landscape and to create wonderful pieces that can last generations. It is indeed a blessing. Let us create something for you.

As a residential remodeler, I brought my very particular client to Kevin as I knew he would be able to get the right reclaimed oak material to get the “look” the client wanted. Kevin took the time at his shop, pulling out pieces of wood to talk about the inherent characteristics of each piece such as grain, holes, nail staining. The result is beautiful! Mari hand delivered them to the job site, our carpenter installed them, and they were finished in place. Kevin and Mari are the best at what they do, and I will reach out to them again. Quality and service at its best!

We came in with specs determined by leftover mounting hardware, and Kevin accommodated all our specific needs and made our custom order process easy to navigate. He was very communicative over email, ensuring that we were on the same page with follow up questions and images. He even gave us multiple options for the grain of the various boards, taking time to explain why he thought different combinations worked well visually. We appreciated his friendly updates with process photos throughout. We also loved that we could see other projects online–we like the naming convention! It seems like Kevin genuinely enjoys his work and his craft. We received our well-packaged mantel and it fit like a glove on our existing mounting hardware. I bought a mantel from Antique Woodworks about two years ago. I should have posted this sooner, but we’re thrilled with the purchase we made. The owners cut it and did some fine tuning right on the spot, which saved me time for installation. Further, my wife didn’t want a mantel with lacquer and poly off-gassing in our master bedroom so the piece is finished with a wax product which is marvelous. Finally, we appreciated the owners giving us the background of the wood species and where this beam was likely harvested from. While a little out of the way from the Twin Cities, it was a worthwhile experience and I would recommend these folks highly.

Kevin is a delight to work with. I have traveled most of my life for assessing and researching the architectural styles of different European countries. I was trying to design a mantel for my 1932 historical house and I never thought I could achieve that task till I met Kevin. Together we designed a mantle that came out just exquisite. I told them what I was looking for and they selected the perfect hand hewn barn timber beam for my fireplace project. I can’t say enough about this company, to work with a person via email to custom order something so central as a mantle is a daunting task. Kevin does an excellent job of listening to your wants and matching it to the product he has in stock. Once the mantle is picked he makes very sure that you are in the know about what you’re getting and the process that the piece is going through IE finish or steel work. I would absolutely do it all over again.

It was then cut to our specifications and finished and final pictures were emailed. We were not obligated to purchase the mantle unless we liked the finish product. This is the kind of thing that makes is all worthwhile. The original beam came from an 1800s vintage log cabin near LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Once we finished it up, it traveled down to Texas to a customer with ties to LaCrosse. It is so cool to see this old log cabin timber grace a modern, all black fireplace setting.

We crafted this table for a blind customer and his loved ones, focusing on distinctive metal textures he could explore through touch. The boisterous wood grain gave his mother endless details to share with him as she described the piece. Building this custom table became more than just craftsmanship – it deepened into a meaningful connection with an amazing family throughout the entire process.
