Product Description

AVAILABLE. A natural crack meanders across its face, weaving around knots.

This reclaimed mantel showcases unique character and rustic charm. A striking yet stable crack runs across its face, creating natural beauty. Old nail holes and even an original nail remain — a testament to the wood’s history. Faint circular saw marks from the original mill cross the face and bottom, adding authenticity. An original mortise pocket in the bottom awaits filling from us to complete the piece. We’ve cut the top to size, and while some color variation and staining exist, they only enhance its appeal. The mantel’s face steals the show, displaying the interesting touch of nature that makes this piece special. We’ve also photographed the backside. That is certainly an option for the face as well.

  • This reclaimed mantel has been sanded, but no finish coat has been applied. Final finishing is included in the price.
We can preserve this nice natural red elm color, or the piece will go darker with our typical, high-end Rubio Monocoat finish.
  • It is currently 4.875 x  7.625 x 72in inches long, we can cut to size at no additional charge.
  • It can be shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states via FedEx Gnd for $150

This beam for this particular reclaimed mantel came from a barn built near Henderson, Minnesota in the late 1800s. Henderson founded in 1852 as a river town, sits on the banks of the Minnesota River. By 1875, it had grown to a bustling community of about 1,000 residents. The barn, like many structures of its time, saw additions over the years, and this beam was likely part of a later expansion. We were lucky to take photos of the original barn, which isn’t always possible with our salvage projects. The beam’s journey from a rural Minnesota barn to its new life as a mantel piece reflects the rich history of the region and the enduring quality of 19th-century craftsmanship.

About the tag – A 1929 Advertisement for Camel Blend Cigs. I am amazed that the illustration has barely changed over almost 100 years. There are very few brands that have changed this little over time. Amazing. In the United States, cigarette advertisements have not been allowed on television or radio since 1971. However, they can still appear in magazines, provided that no more than 15% of the readers are under 18 years old or if more than two million readers fall into that age group.

You can shop some available mantel beams and thinner mantel shelves on this website.

However, our website here only contains a small number of all of the mantels that we have in stock.
We are literally a mom-and-pop shop that does lots of custom work. We often just don’t quite find enough time to update this website regularly.
We have nearly 150 finished mantels and another 500 or so unfinished pieces in stock at any time that can be viewed with other links.

We also do lots of custom work. If we understand what you are seeking, we can find and create that magic piece.

Please contact us for a full list and personal recommendations. We’re happy to chat and find a great piece for you.

We work with a great local blacksmith to add metal straps and other ornamentation to our mantels. He is the real deal — coal forged and hand hammered. The metalwork has great color and tight fit. Nothing machined. We can start with a finished mantel you find on our site, or we can start with raw stock for more options.

Here are a few examples of the hundreds that we have crafted over the years. We can work together to create something unique. You can also browse our Mantels with Metalwork page.
