Product Description

AVAILABLE. Great Price.

This reclaimed wood mantel brings a piece of history into your home, much like an old antique. Circular saw marks crisscross its surface, telling the story of its original milling. These marks interplay with the pronounced grains of red oak, creating a visually striking texture. Along the edges, you’ll find gentle curves where the tree’s sapwood once flowed, adding organic character to the piece. The mantel’s color varies across its surface, a hallmark of reclaimed wood that speaks to its rich past. Warm tones blend and shift, creating depth and visual interest throughout the reclaimed wood mantel. Cracks have developed over time, indicative of the mantel’s solid construction and authenticity.

The original barn was built by German immigrant farmers who settled in Cologne, Minnesota in the late 1800s. They built towns like Hamburg and New Germany nearby, creating a hub of German-American culture. With circle-sawn beams, mostly round nails, and a straight roof, this particular barn can be dated to close to the turn of the century. In 2020, this barn was the last barn taken down by our old friend Harry. He passed away in 2022. The pictures are from 2012. Harry was a crazy character filled with adventure and insane stories. He is dearly missed.

About the tag – White Eggs. This advertisement for White Egg laying chickens dates back to 1941. In the modern grocery store, our eggs are very consistent — all white or occasionally brown eggs. However, on the farm, eggs come in a whole variety of colors. If you’ve never seen them, just do a quick Google Image Search for “Farm Eggs.” They are beautiful.

You can shop some available mantel beams and thinner mantel shelves on this website.

However, our website here only contains a small number of all of the mantels that we have in stock.
We are literally a mom-and-pop shop that does lots of custom work. We often just don’t quite find enough time to update this website regularly.
We have nearly 150 finished mantels and another 500 or so unfinished pieces in stock at any time that can be viewed with other links.

We also do lots of custom work. If we understand what you are seeking, we can find and create that magic piece.

Please contact us for a full list and personal recommendations. We’re happy to chat and find a great piece for you.

We work with a great local blacksmith to add metal straps and other ornamentation to our mantels. He is the real deal — coal forged and hand hammered. The metalwork has great color and tight fit. Nothing machined. We can start with a finished mantel you find on our site, or we can start with raw stock for more options.

Here are a few examples of the hundreds that we have crafted over the years. We can work together to create something unique. You can also browse our Mantels with Metalwork page.
