Experience the charm of history with this reclaimed wood fireplace mantel. This authentic piece comes from an 1800s log cabin timber, bringing a slice of the past into your home. The face showcases a mix of natural tree patterns and ax marks, telling the story of its creation. Its wavy depth adds character, while the surprisingly smooth top speaks to the skill of early craftsmen. The bottom reveals its age with square nail holes and unique textures. Made of black ash, this mantel boasts beautiful grain patterns and rich coloring. We’ve cut the back flat for easy mounting, making it perfect for your lake house or cabin. Add warmth and rustic elegance to your living space with this one-of-a-kind reclaimed wood fireplace mantel.

The original cabin was located near town of Annandale, Minnesota which is located about 50 miles northwest of Minneapolis. It was founded in 1888 and the town name is believed to have been inspired by Annan, Scotland. The log cabin was probably built about that same time in the late 1800s. In this area, sawmills were pretty common by about 1900. The town is adjacent to several nice, medium to large lakes. The last picture shows the house before dismantling.

The wood on this mantel is Black Ash. Black Ash and Red Elm tend to have a nice complimentary color to hickory which is gaining popularity for floors and cabinets these days.

About the Tag: $1 Brings you a Tailor-Made-To-Order-Suit. A snappy suit in the latest, most stunning style — with 5 months to pay. It is kind of crazy to think that you could mail order a suit and mail in monthly payments. Nowadays, I hear that Target, Aldi, and Whole Foods won’t even take a personal check.

You can shop some available mantel beams and thinner mantel shelves on this website.

However, our website here only contains a small number of all of the mantels that we have in stock.
We are literally a mom-and-pop shop that does lots of custom work. We often just don’t quite find enough time to update this website regularly.
We have nearly 150 finished mantels and another 500 or so unfinished pieces in stock at any time that can be viewed with other links.

We also do lots of custom work. If we understand what you are seeking, we can find and create that magic piece.

Please contact us for a full list and personal recommendations. We’re happy to chat and find a great piece for you.

We work with a great local blacksmith to add metal straps and other ornamentation to our mantels. He is the real deal — coal forged and hand hammered. The metalwork has great color and tight fit. Nothing machined. We can start with a finished mantel you find on our site, or we can start with raw stock for more options.

Here are a few examples of the hundreds that we have crafted over the years. We can work together to create something unique. You can also browse our Mantels with Metalwork page.
