This reclaimed fireplace mantel offers many attractive features you’ll love. Its great white oak color fits perfectly into today’s natural wood home interiors. We can darken the wood with a simple oil finish, no pigmented staining is required. (see the last couple of pictures for a sample) The mantel boasts a rare, original hand-hewn rectangular shape, setting it apart from the more common square timbers. (back in the day, it just made sense to make a round log square — not rectangular) Its face is pocket-free, showing off nice, even color tones. Look closely, and you’ll spot original mortise pegs in the top and bottom, adding to its authentic charm. This unique piece brings both history and style to your home.

This reclaimed fireplace mantel has been sanded, but no finish coat has been applied. Final finishing is included in the price.
We can preserve this nice natural oak color, or the piece will naturally go darker with our typical, high-end Rubio Monocoat finish.
It is currently 5.5 x 8.25 x 73 inches long, we can cut to size at no additional charge.

We purchased the old source beam from an Amish gentleman in Southwest Wisconsin. We’ve worked with him for nearly 20 years, watching his family grow. He recently passed much of the business to his sons, who are in their twenties. We eagerly anticipate working with the next generation. An old barn from the late 1800s supplied the beam. We enjoy visiting the area’s rolling hills. Beautiful scenery surrounds us, with cows roaming the pastures. Often, we spot Amish farmers in the distance, guiding horse-drawn plows. This scene transports us to a simpler time.

However, our website here only contains a small number of all of the mantels that we have in stock.
We are literally a mom-and-pop shop that does lots of custom work. We often just don’t quite find enough time to update this website regularly.
We have nearly 150 finished mantels and another 500 or so unfinished pieces in stock at any time that can be viewed with other links.

We also do lots of custom work. If we understand what you are seeking, we can find and create that magic piece.

Mantels with Metal

We work with a great local blacksmith to add metal straps and other ornamentation to our mantels. He is the real deal — coal forged and hand hammered. The metalwork has great color and tight fit. Nothing machined. We can start with a finished mantel you find on our site, or we can start with raw stock for more options.
