This modern farmhouse white oak mantel marries the past and present. Craftsmen hand-hewed this natural white oak piece in 1800s Wisconsin, creating authentic charm for your modern farmhouse. The gentle marks whisper tales of the American West, enhancing the wood’s innate beauty without overshadowing its stunning grains and knots. This mantel perfectly balances natural white oak beauty with reclaimed authenticity. The front, top and bottom are free of mortise pockets. The back has a couple of pockets, but we’ll fill those to even out the back. Enjoy the timeless appeal of a modern farmhouse white oak mantel that tells a story of American craftsmanship.

  • This modern farmhouse hewn white oak mantel has been sanded, but no finish coat has been applied. Final finishing is included in the price.
We can preserve this nice natural oak color, or the piece will naturally go darker with our typical, high-end Rubio Monocoat finish.
  • It is currently 6 x 6 x 63 inches long, we can cut to size at no additional charge.
  • It can be shipped anywhere in the lower 48 states via FedEx Gnd for $150

We bought the source white oak wood beam from an Amish man in Southwest Wisconsin. We’ve worked with him for almost 20 years and have watched his family grow. He has handed off much of the business to his 20-something-year-old sons. We look forward to seeing the next generation. The beam came from an old weather barn built in the late 1800s. We always love visiting out to the rolling hills of the area. The scenery is gorgeous and the cows still roam the pastures. Frequently in the distance, you’ll see Amish folks pulling plows with a team of horses. It is a step back to a simpler time.

About the tag – The Larro Feeds advertisement is from 1943 copy of The Farmer magazine. General Mills created the Larro Feeds division in the 1940s to keep farm animals happy and well-fed. Many of the sacks came in wonderful patterns that could be made in clothes. There are lots of great old signs, chicken waterers, sacks and other advertising products on Ebay

You can shop some available mantel beams and thinner mantel shelves on this website.

However, our website here only contains a small number of all of the mantels that we have in stock.
We are literally a mom-and-pop shop that does lots of custom work. We often just don’t quite find enough time to update this website regularly.
We have nearly 150 finished mantels and another 500 or so unfinished pieces in stock at any time that can be viewed with other links.

We also do lots of custom work. If we understand what you are seeking, we can find and create that magic piece.

Please contact us for a full list and personal recommendations. We’re happy to chat and find a great piece for you.

We work with a great local blacksmith to add metal straps and other ornamentation to our mantels. He is the real deal — coal forged and hand hammered. The metalwork has great color and tight fit. Nothing machined. We can start with a finished mantel you find on our site, or we can start with raw stock for more options.

Here are a few examples of the hundreds that we have crafted over the years. We can work together to create something unique. You can also browse our Mantels with Metalwork page.
