The Morristown is a bank barn with a rough sawn pine frame that measures 32’ x 40’ x 15’. It is in excellent condition but the roof is old and it needs to be dismantled soon. The most unique feature of this barn is the small number of interior posts and the large bay spacing. With only two interior posts this barn allows the designer a lot of freedom to create an open floor plan for conversion into a timber frame home or a garage with loft. The square footage can be increased by placing it on a concrete knee wall or reduced by cutting down the posts when it is rebuilt.
The material package includes the mortise and tenon timber frame wall and roof members. The roof boards usually have so many nails that it’s hard to justify salvaging them. Now and then when an extra wide roof board comes off in great condition we add them to the basic barn package as a surprise otherwise they are not included.
The hay mow floor is made from local hardwood lumber and would make great flooring or paneling but since it is completely covered with loose hay it is not certain how much is salvageable or what it’s worth. Any damaged posts or framing members are replaced.
Using the above information and the attached plan for this building package the price of the Morristown barn is $12,000 FOB Morristown, MN.
