Product Description
Oak Log Cabin Timber from 1800s.
Step back in time with this stunning Oak Log Cabin Fireplace Mantel — a genuine piece of American history that brings warmth, soul, and storytelling character to any home. Reclaimed from an original log cabin, this timber was created before sawmills were common in the area. Those beautiful hewn textures? Hand-cut by axe-swinging craftsmen in the days of horse and sleigh, when every strike left a mark worth keeping.
The rounded, tree-like face is full of personality along with a hand-hewn top and bottom that celebrate the natural form of the timber. A warm taupe base plays beautifully against rich dark spots, creating color variation that no paint or stain could ever replicate. The right face carries just enough hand-hewn character to remind you this piece was shaped by human hands — imperfectly perfect in every way.
This oak log cabin fireplace mantel offers two unique faces, each with its own distinct charm. Pick your favorite — we’ll cut the back to match and make it yours. Authentic, one-of-a-kind, and absolutely irreplaceable. This is history you can build a home around.

Reclaimed from a nearly 150-year-old log home in Hart, Minnesota which is about 45 minutes East of Rochester, Minnesota. We were fortunate enough to get a couple of old photos from the original family that built the log cabin as well as the cabin itself. The property has been in the family to this very day. Back in 2018, there was an incredible auction for the contents of the old general store in Hart which was about a mile from the original cabin. Oh, how I would have loved to have been there!
About the tag – “Just around the Corner” there A.T. fitting glasses to sight that dim. Is it any wonder, then, that he, days’ work done, likes to take a swim! This tag was from the 1925 membership directory for the Saint Paul Athletic Club. Back when men built their connections at the club and not on LinkedIn.
More Mantel Inventory
You can shop some available mantel beams and thinner mantel shelves on this website.
However, our website here only contains a small number of all of the mantels that we have in stock.
We are literally a mom-and-pop shop that does lots of custom work. We often just don’t quite find enough time to update this website regularly.
We have nearly 150 finished mantels and another 500 or so unfinished pieces in stock at any time that can be viewed with other links.
We also do lots of custom work. If we understand what you are seeking, we can find and create that magic piece.
Please contact us for a full list and personal recommendations. We’re happy to chat and find a great piece for you.
Mantels with Metal
We work with a great local blacksmith to add metal straps and other ornamentation to our mantels. He is the real deal — coal forged and hand hammered. The metalwork has great color and tight fit. Nothing machined. We can start with a finished mantel you find on our site, or we can start with raw stock for more options.
Here are a few examples of the hundreds that we have crafted over the years. We can work together to create something unique. You can also browse our Mantels with Metalwork page.

Installation
In most cases, no special and expensive brackets are required — just some lag screws. The different approaches outlined are very strong, simple, and economical. Take a look at our mantel installation tips.
