On Hold for Tom R

Hand-hewn pine mantels are somewhat unique for us. We gather lots of hardwoods, but not many softwoods (spruce, pine, fir, hemlock — basically trees with needles). This hand-hewn beam came from a barn near Waconia, Minnesota. It was actually on its 2nd reuse in the early 1900s barn. One would venture a safe guess that the beam came from an earlier, smaller barn or granary at the same location. The beam probably dates back to the 1800s. The old barn was about 2 or 3 miles from Swedish immigrant, Andrew Peterson, Farm. The Andrew Peterson farm became famous, particularly in Sweden, after the meticulous journals he kept became the basis for Vilhelm Moberg’s Emigrants book series.
In one of the pictures, you can see a handhewn pine beam. There were only a few in the barn. This may very well be the same beam.
We will cut this beam down and discount the price by $9.50 per inch, up to a total of $115.
If this mantel is not quite right, but close in some way, send us email at email@example.com. We have plenty of other mantels in-stock -- both finished and raw. We very likely have something similar.
