Product Description

This hand hewn red elm rustic fireplace mantel beam came from an old granary near Gaylord, Minnesota. It has a really nice warm, orangey-red color with pleasant flowing grains. It has 3 fills, roughly 4×4 blocks that we put in place to fill pockets that were originally in place to support the floor joists of the old building.

This piece probably dates back to the late 1800s as we found a few square nails in it.

We also can cut this one shorter and reduce the price — less $10 per inch up to a $115 discount.

We are literally a mom-and-pop shop that does lots of custom work. We often just don’t quite find enough time to update this website regularly.

Mantels with Metal

We work with a great local blacksmith to add metal straps and other ornamentation to our mantels. He is the real deal — coal forged and hand hammered. The metalwork has great color and tight fit. Nothing machined. We can start with a finished mantel you find on our site, or we can start with raw stock for more options.
