 This mantel has a got a side for everyone. It’s a Red Oak, but for some crazy reason, virtually every side is different. There’s a naily, very rustic side; a cracked side; a clean side with mild saw marks, and a slightly weathered side with some nice checking. Put your favorite face out and your least favorite either to the wall or to the bottom. We finished all sides on this one, just because we couldn’t decide our favorite either. Of course, these pictures were taken December 2010 -- Minnesota's snowiest December on record. Antique, Rustic Oak Barn Beam Mantel – 6 ½ x 6 ½ - 7 x 69 ½. The crack on the one side pushes the beam to be slightly trapezoid shape (rather than perfectly square).
