This is a pretty neat piece of wood and iron.. We’ve had this sitting around in an unfinished state for over 6 years. We just hadn’t got to working it. Now that I see it, I wished we had done it sooner. As I recall, the hand forged iron may be some sort of bracket to hold up a gate or door. This is the real thing – a guy with some hot metal, a hammer, and an anvil. The wood is red oak. There’s several fills and patches… but they all just add some more interest.
The original piece came out of an old log barn and bunk house that dated back to the late 1800s in Ellsworth, Wisconsin. We have sketch of the original place, so be sure to remind me for it.
