We have a 25x30 chestnut log home for sale in Uncasville, Connecticut. What a treat. American Chestnut is pretty much only available from antique source. Once a predominate species in the Eastern US, most large trees were wiped out in the 1920's by a blight -- leaving only a few scrub varieties. The theory is that the importing of the Japanese Chestnut into the New York area brought in the Chestnut Blight - a fungus that kills the tree. In a few words, chestnut is beautiful, light, and strong. Chestnut is in the oak family. Get this building quick as a unit, before it's purchased just for the wood. Impressively long, straight logs.
