
We see a lot of different pieces come through the shop --
each with a story to tell. On occasion, we find one that
has a more unusual story than others.
This is just one of those pieces. By looking at all of the
cut marks on the one side of this mantel (4th picture down), one can only
guess that it was used as the chopping block while the
workers built the log cabin over 100 years ago. This is
real thing -- an original, practical piece of wood that served it's
purpose for real people, a very long time ago.
I'm continually amazed when I see things like this. This
is pretty cool.
Note: Picture 2 has some lighter specks in it. While these
are present, they get over exaggerated in flash pictures.
