Reclaimed Wood Countertops 
Reclaimed wood countertops can become the stunning centerpiece of the kitchen. While competitively priced against granite, marble, and Corian
(a registered trademark of the DuPont Co.), wood countertops offer a beautiful range of colors, rich history, and stunning look. Antique
Woodworks can custom craft counters to your specifications. They are easy to install and offer years of wonderful functionality.The pictures here show a wood countertop that is 1.5" thick and made from four, 8-foot long planks of solid white oak. The original tenons and pegs have been epxoy'd back into the original mortise holes. You'll also notice the black iron stains from old nail holes. All holes have been filled with epoxy; it blends nicely and is hardly noticeable. This particular countertop was completed with several coats of a water-based polyurethane.  Wood works just fine in the kitchen. Wood has been the standard bar top for well over
a century. You'll need to wipe up spills and not leave standing water for hours, but other than that, they're pretty
tough. Most people are finding that wood makes an excellent countertop on their center islands.
