 This is one absolutely incredible conference table made from reclaimed White Oak. Besides the stunning color and ganged beam pedestals, this table reveals the remarkable tight end-grain of the old grown beams on the table’s surface. The pedestals are composed of 7in x 7in timbers, which have been gathered and bolted together. Each beam was carefully shaped so that is balanced nicely with the two adjacent beams. Each pedestal weighs nearly 150 pounds. We added 3in x3in feet to ensure that the table doesn’t tip; but that was only an extra precaution. These pedestals provide plenty of foundation with their massive weight. The table top is about one-and-one-half inches thick and started out life in a granary as floor joists. If you know where to look, you can still see the faint semi-circular outline of the sleeper beam that the joists were notched into. One of the design features on this table was maximum legroom for each of the people around the table. Even at the ends or right in front of the pedestals, a person won’t bumper their knees. There’s plenty of space. Sorry, this exact one has been sold to a company in New York. We’d be happy to build another one similar; and the size can be scaled up or down to meet your needs.
